Sample MYP Planner Reflection

In this second course we spent a lot of time developing are own MYP planner; however, we first spent some time looking at a sample planner to learn about how they are developed, where inquiry finds itself, and to also learn from a good example.

When first looking at the sample planner, it was overwhelming; far different from any other planning I have had to do before as a teacher. While it was overwhelming, I was able to learn a lot from it and apply what I learned to my own unit planner later in the course.

As part of our learning, we did a 3-2-1 protocol with the MYP planner:

3 Things I Want to “Steal”

Student choice in summative assessment

Listing specific vocabulary to use in context

Three types of formative assessment

        Student led

        Classroom led

        Teacher led

2 Things I Would Do Differently

ATLs

Linguistic Differentiation

1 Question I Have for the Author

How did students do with peer feedback in the formative           assessment?

How did students respond to guest speaker?
